MAEF Angel Fund - "Be An Angel" 2010
Thank your child's teacher for a great school year with a tax-deductible gift to the MAEF Angel Fund. The Angel Fund provides confidential help with clothing, food, school supplies, and related expenses to children in need in our district.
It’s easy! Simply complete the online donation form or print a paper form and send it with your check to: Angel Fund, c/o Mahtomedi Area Educational Foundation, 1520 Mahtomedi Avenue, Mahtomedi, MN 55115. Your child’s teacher will receive a card noting that a gift has been made in his or her name to the Angel Fund, along with your personalized message. And next fall, a child will benefit from your generosity as teachers learn of special needs and turn to the Angel Fund to help meet them.
Cards will be delivered to teachers during the last week of school.
History
In the spring of 2007, several school counselors approached MAEF board members with a concern. Their concern was that basic needs of some students were significantly impacting their ability to thrive at school. In addition, the counselors’ and social workers’ current funding source, America’s Child, was not enough to satisfy the needs. This newly established fund is intended to provide special assistance to students who may miss an educational opportunity because of their family's financial situation. To respond to this need, the MAEF Angel Fund was established in December of 2009.
Examples of Angel Fund use include things such as, general school supplies, (e.g., pencils, paper, calculator), graduation fees, yearbooks, warm clothing (e.g. sweaters, caps, mittens, coats), scholarship
aid to attend other educational programs (e.g., Youth Authors Conference), lice shampoo and combs, winter boots, health supplies (e.g., soap, shampoo, combs), grocery store gift certificate
for family in need, replace lens in glasses/batteries in hearing aid and school picture costs.
