Angel Fund

Thanks to the MAEF Angel fund, we have been able to pay our bills, provide enough food for our children and ensure they have sufficient clothing and school supplies. The assistance has been a blessing to our family, and we are truly grateful for the help received.

Our donors make it possible to fulfill the increasing number of requests to our Angel Fund by providing students and families with assistance for basic needs including food, clothing, school supplies, gas, cleaning supplies, personal care items, transportation, and other resources needed for student success in and out of the classroom.

Did you know?

  • The number of Mahtomedi students experiencing homelessness has doubled in the last four years.

  • The number of Mahtomedi students enrolled in the Weekend Food Backpack Program has increased 21% in the last three years.

Gifts made to the Angel Fund help support our students and families through the following programs.

Angel Fund - The Angel Fund provides students and families assistance with basic needs including food, clothing, school supplies, gas, cleaning supplies, personal care items, transportation, and other resources needed for student success in and out of the classroom.

Care Closets - Care Closets (located at all schools) provide students with quick access to basic needs like school supplies, hygiene products, snacks, and clothing. The Care Closets are funded entirely by donations from individuals, grants, and businesses to the MAEF Angel Fund.

Weekend Backpack Program - The Weekend Backpack Program in partnership with the Mahtomedi Area Food Shelf,  provides students who face food insecurity in the Mahtomedi School District with nutritious meals and snacks for the weekend.

Daily Snack for Students - This program provides students with a daily snack to eat during snack time at school each day of the week throughout the school year.

Our Passages students benefit from the Angel Fund in many ways. One example is in our Work Program. Students are able to practice their work skills by packing the week day snacks. They work individually by counting out snacks, then work as a team in an assembly line to package the snacks. The students then deliver the snacks each week to the Wildwood and O.H. Anderson elementary schools and follow a list to place them into student lockers. So many work skills are practiced each week: communication, teamwork, problem solving, self management, counting, following directions, time management, flexibility, organization, and many more!
