Position: Executive Director

Organization: Mahtomedi Area Education Foundation (MAEF)

Location: Mahtomedi, Minnesota

Employment Type: Part-Time (.75 FTE)

Reports to: MAEF Board of Directors

Overview: Mahtomedi Area Education Foundation (MAEF) is dedicated to enhancing educational opportunities and outcomes for students at Mahtomedi Public Schools. We seek a dynamic and visionary leader to serve as our Executive Director, responsible for overall strategic, operational, and financial management. The Executive Director will serve as the public representative of the Foundation. This position requires a strong commitment to our mission and values, alongside a track record of successful leadership and fundraising in the nonprofit sector. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Strategy: Develop and implement strategic plans that align with the foundation's mission and goals. Serve as the primary liaison between MAEF and Mahtomedi Public Schools, fostering a positive and collaborative organizational culture. Act as a professional advisor to the Board of Trustees on all aspects of the organization’s activities.

  • Fundraising & Development: Develop and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies to secure financial support from individuals, corporations, and foundations. Cultivate and steward relationships with major donors and funding partners, overseeing grant writing and reporting processes. Oversee fund raising events and activities. 

  • Program Oversight: Ensure the effective implementation and evaluation of educational programs and initiatives. Collaborate with educational institutions, community partners, and stakeholders to enhance program impact. Oversee staff and volunteers.

  • Financial Management: Oversee the organization's day-to-day operations and financial health, including budgeting, financial reporting, and compliance with regulations. Manage resources efficiently to maximize impact and sustainability.

  • Communications & Advocacy: Publicly represent the foundation to the community, media, and stakeholders. Advocate for educational issues and policies that align with the foundation's mission.

Preferred Qualifications:

Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Minimum of 2+ years of senior leadership experience in nonprofit management, education, or a related field.

Skills & Abilities: Proven track record of successful fundraising and development efforts. Strong strategic planning, organizational, and leadership skills. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation abilities. Financial acumen and experience managing budgets and resources. Experience with Google, QuickBooks, Neon, and OneCause platforms is desirable. Passion for education and commitment to advancing educational equity.

Compensation: $38-$40/hr depending on qualifications.
